This excursion can be taken from Budva, Becici, Rafailovici, Przno, Sveti Stefana, Petrovac, Buljarica, Canj, Sutomore. The bus will also be able to pick up tourists who live in Boka Kotor Bay - from Tivat and Kotor, thereby admiring almost the entire coast of Montenegro on the way and recognizing its resorts.

Not Remember to take comfortable shoes and warm clothes with you: the temperature in the north and the coast may be different.

Description and route of the tour "Tara Canyon + Black Lake Zabljak in Montenegro"

The tour will start around 06:30 in the morning. The route passes through mountain passes, Skadar Lake or Cetina (passing) and the capital Podgorica. If you want to go on several excursions - after looking at the lake, decide for yourself whether you want to visit the excursion to Lake Skadar to see it closer or excursion to the Ostrog Monastery and Podgorica similar.

Then we will drive through the capital Montenegro - Podgorica and other cities such as Niksic and Shavnik. You will see almost the whole of Montenegro from the coast to the north of the country.

In the north of Montenegro we will find The Tara River Canyon and its grandeur.

The Tara Canyon is the second deepest in the world.

Its depth is more than 1300 meters, and its length is 78 km. The river also hosts Rafting - the most exciting extreme adventure in Montenegro!

From Durmitor Plateau mwe will go down to the deepest place of the gorge at the bridge Djurdzhevich is a great building of the mid-20th century. The length of one of the spans is 108 meters above the abyss, and the height is more than 150 m.

Although the bridge is a car bridge, all tourists are still allowed to cross on foot from one bank to the other and even take photographs, since this is one of the main attractions and tourist routes for all tourists.

If you wish, you can rappel down through the canyon - Zip-Line. When booking an excursion, you have the option to book a flight. We advise you to first go to the zipline, then to take photos on the bridge, and then to buy souvenirs. Near the bridge or at technical stops, Montenegrins sell various homemade specialties (honey, wine, rakia...) - our advice: buy what you tried and liked, as it happens that they sell the wrong honey that you liked during tasting.

Here in the Tara Canyon, we will stop for lunch at a national restaurant with its delicacies. Set lunch is available for an additional fee of 15e per person upon request (can be selected when booking an excursion). The set lunch consists of a choice of grilled trout with a side dish or meat, salad (cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers - seasonal vegetables), bread. Drinks for extra fee to be paid on the spot. Lunch is paid in cash to the guide on the bus. Lunch is approximately expected at 12.00, since firstly the excursion is early, many tourists had breakfast at 5:30-06:00 in the morning, and secondly - unfortunately in the north of Montenegro in the canyons there are practically no more restaurants that can accommodate a group or do not offer set lunches.

Having eaten deliciously, we will move towards city Zabljak.

This area is one of the five national parks of Montenegro, called Durmitor, is listed under the protection of UNESCO as a world natural-geographical site. This place contains the highest peaks of the country - Mount Bobotov Kuk (2522 meters above sea level). And at the foot is the famous Black Lake with its clearest clear water. It takes about 10 minutes to get there one way, so don’t waste time. About 1 hour of free time is allocated to Black Lake. Yes - this is such a beautiful place that you want to admire it for hours, but unfortunately we cannot spend more than 1 hour of our time on it, since the excursion is long, lasts from 12 to 15 hours, and you need to have time to pass all the sights along the route.

You are allowed to swim if you wish. Don't forget to bring your swimwear. And those who don’t want to can go boating for an additional fee. There will be enough time to walk, take photographs and enjoy the colorful landscapes.

Very often people come here to walk with children, do yoga and just breathe fresh air - this is one of the “places of power” where you gain earthly energy for life!

After enjoying the beauty of the stormy colors, we will plot the route back. Along the way, we will pass through another canyon along the Komarnitsa River.

Photo stops and a lunch break are planned along the entire route, which will be served at a national restaurant with famous local food! We return back around 19:00.

The excursion takes place at any weather

Attention:Due to recent circumstances - a rock collapse on the road at the beginning of the Tara River Canyon, road construction work and road closures until the end of 2025, the excursion route will be as follows: Coast of Montenegro - Podgorica - Niksic - Shavnik - Tara River Canyon - Djurdjevic Bridge - Zabljak - Black Lake and back along the same road. Tourists who booked the Canyons excursion before May 30, 2025 and went on the excursion were notified by the guide on the bus and, at their own request, agreed to the excursion or could refuse. The last update of the program and page on the website occurred on May 30, 2025. Tourists who booked an excursion according to the old program (which included Moraca Canyon and Moraca Monastery), for whom the excursion has not yet taken place, will be notified by email until June 7, 2025 about the change in the program, route and their further consent. The cost of the excursion remains the same.
