Excursion to Lovcen, Cetinje and Njegusi

Sightseeing tour, which must be visited is Maxi Montenegro (Cetina + Lovcen + Njegusi). Here you will get acquainted with the deep history and Montenegrin traditions of our region. Don't forget to take warm clothes: the air temperature on the coast and in the mountains can differ significantly. Comfortable shoes and some clothing to cover your shoulders and legs, as you will be visiting a monastery. This route runs along high-altitude but safe roads from which stunning panoramas of Montenegro and the Boka Bay of Kotor open.

The first stop will be at the observation deck - 850 meters on Mount Braichi, from which a magnificent panorama of Budva opens. riviera, the sea and the island of St. Nicholas!

Then the path will continue to the old capital - Cetina.

On a walking tour of the city of Cetinje, you will get acquainted with the history of the city, which dates back to the 15th century.

You will be pleasantly surprised by a huge number of attractions: King Nikola's Palace, Blue Palace, State Museum, Vlas Church of the 15th century with a fence of 1544 gun barrels and many more interesting things. Visiting museums (optional).

After a walk with a guide, we will visit Cetina Monastery. It is rich in history and preserves the Hand of St. John the Baptist - three fingers of the right hand, who baptized Jesus Christ. A piece of the life-giving cross of the Lord on which Jesus Christ was crucified and the relics of Peter of Cetinje - the founder of the Cetinje monastery.

If you have crosses on your body and everything you buy in the monastery shop, be sure to consecrate it on the holy relics by venerating them. As on the excursion Ostrog and Podgorica, here you can also light candles and write notes for your health and repose. The Cetinje Monastery is the center of the Montenegrin metropolis for the entire Serbian-Montenegrin Orthodoxy.

After a long stop in Cetinje, we will travel 22 km through incredibly beautiful places called the “Stone Sea of Montenegro” and rise even higher towards the mountain Lovcen, where the famous mausoleum of Peter II Petrovich Njegos, the ruler of Montenegro, is located throughout Europe, which proudly stands on the second highest mountain range 1650 m.

Peter Njegos was a great commander, clergyman and ruler Montenegro, who fought for justice and served his people to the end. We will be able to rise to a height of 1650 m above sea level, and then 461 steps await us to the mausoleum to be overcome on foot (visit upon request).

In the mausoleum itself you will see figures of two Montenegrin women made of granite, as well as a figure made of Jablunica marble weighing 28 tons and the marble sarcophagus of Petar II Petrovic Njegosh, and the ceiling in this mausoleum is made of 18 kg of pure gold, donated by Italy to Montenegro.

On the back side of the Lovcen mausoleum there is the “Eagle's Nest” - the so-called round platform, which offers beautiful views of the mountains, cities and villages.

In clear weather, from Mount Lovcen you can see 70% of the territory Montenegro.

At the foot of the mountain there is an ancient mountain village Njegusi- the birthplace of the Petrovich dynasty, who once ruled the area. This village is famous for its natural, environmentally friendly delicacies, such as prosciutto - smoked pork ham, Njeguš cheese and delicious mead with rakia, and if you like it, you can take a couple of legs with you to your homeland (it is allowed to export prosciutto, cheese and rakia up to 1.5 liters per person).

During the excursion - guide will show and tell you how locals dry Prosciutto and make homemade cheese. There will be time for tasting, purchasing local specialties and souvenirs.

After the gastronomic treat, we continue our excursion to the sea along a unique serpentine road with 25 turns, called the “Cattaro staircase” due to the steepness of the climb. 

It was built by the Austrians, running to the Boka Kotor Bay and the city of Kotor. Beautiful panoramas will open all the way. In the evening you will be able to admire the sunset.

From the road there are magnificent views of Boka Kotor Bay, the cities of Kotor, Tivat, Perast, Herceg Novi and the sea. Of course, stops are expected at the sites.

Having descended to sea level, we return along the coast home around 16.00.
