Description and program  excursion "Balkan Pearls"

Day 1  The first day of our program begins with arrival in Belgrade. Here you will find hotel accommodation and relaxation.

Белград Мост над Адой

Day 2 On the second day after breakfast we go on a tour of Belgrade. We will see such significant city attractions as fortress and Kalemegdan park. Although officially only the park is called Kalemegdan, through popular efforts it has been extended to the entire hill and fortress. Residents of the capital love to gather here in the evenings, dance, make appointments and dates.

Парк Калемегдан Крепость Калемегдан

Let's take a walk along the central street called Prince Mikhailov, which in one of the sections adjoins Republic Square. There are many local attractions on the square: the National Theater, a cultural center, a monument to Prince Mikhailov and the National Museum.

,Национальный музей Национальный театр

Let's take a walk around the Skadarlija district, which in its spirit resembles the atmosphere of the French Montmartre. This is one of the oldest areas of Belgrade, which has always been considered “bohemian”, due to the fact that it attracted artists, musicians and all representatives of creative professions. Now Skadarlija is full of small cafes, restaurants and antique shops. By the way, the street here is paved with cobblestones, which adds a unique color to it.T.

Скадарлия Скадарлия

We will also see the Church of St. Sava. Today it is one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in Europe. The temple was built on the site of the burning of the relics of the first archbishop of Serbia. The cathedral now operates solely on donations and is constantly being reconstructed. During your visit, we recommend paying attention to the fresco located under the main dome and the cross on top, which is 12 meters high.

Храм Святого Саввы Храм Святого Саввы

Day 3.Free day in Belgrade. You can spend it shopping in Belgrade's many shopping centers or leisurely walks around the capital. Also according to your wishes. For an additional fee, trips to Sremski Karlovci and Novi Sad are possible. The cost of such a trip is 180 euros per car for 2-4 people or 300 euros for a minibus for 5-7 people

Day 4.After breakfast at the hotel we check out of the hotel andWe are heading towards Zlatibor and Drven grad. A picturesque road awaits us, and the further south we move, the more hilly the area around us will be.

По дороге в Златибор Златибор

Zlatibor got its name from the unique species of pine trees growing here, “zlatni bor”, with yellow, golden needlesThis mountainous area is incredibly beautiful, in addition, the local air has healing properties, which is why Zlatibor received the status of a climatic resort. The resort is also very rich in water resources; a huge number of fish live in lakes and rivers. We will take a walk around the lake and visit the market, which is the main place for shopping for farm products, hand-knitted woolen clothes and souvenirs.

Златибор Balkan pearls

We are heading to the village of Mokra Gora on the slope of Mount Zlatibor. Here is the ethno-village of Kusturica - Drvengrad, which attracts many travelers from all over the world, along whose streets we will definitely stroll. This city is the embodiment of the famous director and his great love for his native country. Here Emir Kusturica realized his dream of an ideal village with small wooden houses, narrow colorful streets and charming small churches. This place is unlike anything else, and there is a feeling that everything around is scenery from the last century, everything seems so unreal. By the way, the covering of the squares and streets of Drvengrad is made of sleeper cuts, which gives it a special flavor.

Another local attraction is the amazing narrow-gauge railway Sharganska Osmica, the route of which forms the figure eight on the landscape. This is the only narrow-gauge railway in Europe, which once connected Belgrade and Sarajevo. The train journey lasts about two hours and includes stops at observation decks and Golubchi station (this is where Kusturica filmed episodes of the film “Life is a Miracle”). This trip will leave an unforgettable impression and bring a lot of pleasure not only to children, but also to adults.

Шарганска осмица Шарганска осмица

After the trip on the Sharganska osmitsa, we will be accommodated in a hotel in Zlatibor for an overnight stay and rest.

Day 5 Today we have a very busy day ahead of us. After a delicious breakfast in traditional Serbian style, we head towards the border with Montenegro.  On the way we will see the long canyon of the Moraca River - the path to the monastery of the same name runs along a mountain stream among high rocks.

We will move along steep cliffs, and the bank opposite is also vertical and will be only 30 - 50 meters from us. The sky somewhere above appears as a narrow strip, reflected in the emerald water of the seething stream.

Next to the road, surrounded by mountain streams, is one of the oldest sanctuaries - Moraca Monastery. The church itself is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary and dates back to the 12th century. To this day, frescoes with the faces of the Virgin Mary and Christ have been preserved; as well as 11 scenes illustrating the life of the prophet Elijah. A separate place is allocated for the icons of St. Semeon and Sveti Sava - the work of Kozma the Great himself.

Монастырь Морача Монастырь Морача

As on the excursion to the Ostrog Monastery, here you can light candles for Health and Repose, write notes, purchase icons and broyanitsa - Serbian-Montenegrin amulets. The monks are very attentive to the improvement of their territory. You are not allowed to take photographs in the church itself, but you are allowed in the courtyard. The territory of the monastery is one of the most beautiful in Montenegro.

Achaeological excavations have shown that the first settlement on the site of the future capital stood here in the Stone Age. Thanks to its favorable location, the settlement, which has changed its name more than once over the centuries, has always remained an important economic center of the entire region.

Let's climb even higher to Mount Lovcen, at the foot of which is the ancient mountain village of Njegusi - the birthplace of the Petrovich dynasty. The village of Njegusi is famous for its delicacies, such as prosciutto - cured pork ham, homemade cheese and the unique mead with brandy. And if you like it, then you can take a couple of legs with you to your homeland... (You are allowed to export prosciutto, cheese and brandy up to 1.5 liters per person). Of course, a stop in the village is expected for tasting and purchasing local specialties and souvenirs. And also a separate time for lunch.
