Program and description of the excursion around the Boka Kotor Bay

The tour will begin in the morning around 8am. The drive is not long, about half an hour, and soon the first stop of our journey will be at the old Austro-Hungarian fortress of Gorazda from the 19th century - a real impregnable fort with a moat and military fortifications.

We will definitely make a stop with a view of the Bay of Kotor.

Having descended to sea level, a walking tour of the city awaits.Kotor- a real treasury of medieval history and culture. Walking through the intricate labyrinth of the city, along the most secret streets, you will see places that are not shown on ordinary streets.excursions. See the chambers of aristocratic families, hear the story of Saint Tryphon, the patron saint of the city, and seeCathedral of Saint Tryphon(1166) - the oldest active temple of the Eastern Adriatic, as well as a unique 12th centuryChurch of St. Luke - one of the apostles of Jesus Christ, which has survived to this day!

Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas 1902-1909.

There will also be some free time after the excursion for an independent walk through the Old Town of Kotor: to sit in local restaurants, drink soft drinks and just buy various souvenirs for yourself, your friends or family!

    Бока Которская бухта Котор

Then we will head along the coast of the Boka Kotor Bay past coastal villages, admiring the scenery and in about 40 minutes one of the oldest cities in Montenegro awaits us Perast - the city of sailors and captains. By order of Peter I, it was ordered to build a naval school here for the children of our Russian nobles. He sent his subjects here to learn maritime skills from the Montenegrins. And the school was eventually headed by the great navigator Marko Martinovich, who glorified this place. Thanks to the Montenegrins, 633 ships were built in St. Petersburg and only 37 on their own.

    Пераст Пераст

The town is not large, but it has become a favorite place for all tourists. It is rich in museums, churches, monuments and palaces. Today it represents one of the most beautiful examples of Baroque architecture on the shores of the Adriatic. In the Middle Ages, navigation and fishing were very developed. More than three hundred buildings - these are real palaces - were built on the shore and hillsides with income from maritime trade and customs privileges. Military campaigns against pirates also brought considerable income - the wealth gained in battles helped decorate the city.

And very close there are two islands: Sveti Georgia (St. George, also known as the Island of the Dead with cypress trees) and Gospa od Shkrpela (the island of the Blessed Virgin Mary or, as they also call it, Our Lady of the Reef), which is the patroness of all sailors and captains. In Perast, we will board a boat and sail to the islands.

    Бока бухта остров Святого Георгия

This is a unique place built by human hands back in 1452. Our excursionsthe guides will tell you the unusual story of the formation of this island. Its area is 3030 m2, we will visit with you a Catholic church with an unusual altar made of four types of marble: yellow, brown, white and gray-green - this particular Greek subspecies of marble no longer exists in the world. Previously, 20 kg of silver were given for 1 kg of marble. You will see the largest collection of sailors' amulets in Europe - silver, bronze and gold coinage - about 2,500 pieces. A functioning organ that is over 300 years old and a Murano glass chandelier (150 years old). And later we will go up to the second floor of the church to the maritime museum with various archaeological finds and gifts from seafarers!

After the visit, we sail back to Perast and very close by is the only oyster farm in the Bay of Kotor, where we can dine on fresh seafood. If you wish, you can buy oysters or mussels.

Afterwards we will head to the city of Risan - this is a small resort, but very significant in the history of Montenegro. Here we will look at Roman mosaics that date back to the 2nd century AD. The guide will tell you the history of the city and the life of the local residents.

Afterwards we will head along the coast of the Boka Kotor Bay, which consists of 4 bays. We will see everything: Kotor, Risansky, Tivat and Herceg Novsky. We will pass through many small villages and resorts, such as: Bijela, Baosici, Djenovici, Kumbor and others.

Upon arrival in Herceg Novi, we will have a walking tour of the old town with a guide, where we will visit local attractions: the Sahat Kula clock tower, fortresses, the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, the Maritime Museum, various squares and fountains.

The last point of inspection of our trip is Tivat, the youngest city on the coast, which dates back to the 7th century AD. We will cross to it by ferry.

    паром Бока Которский залив Тиват

Upon arrival in Tivatyou will notice a beautiful new promenade with a sundial on the pier and the famous port for yachts and boats “Porto Montenegro”, which was built by the American billionaires Pietermank and Rockefeller. A very beautiful, quiet and green town.

    Тиват Тиват Порто Монтенегро

Here we are planning a short walking tour along the Tivat embankment. This is a great opportunity to admire the luxury yachts, take a few photographs and at the same time find out the mystery of the unusual sundial, and maybe you will solve it yourself!
