Albania is the undiscovered pearl of tourist Europe, because we know too little about it, and unfortunately, due to inaccurate information, a negative prejudice could have developed about it. A country of long deserted beaches, ancient ancient settlements, noisy oriental bazaars, modern cities and archaic villages, where you can often meet residents dressed in national costumes.

For citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the country of Albania, starting from 06/01/2025 - 10/31/2025 without a visa!

If citizens of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Belarus or other countries have a multi-Schengen or USA / UK, Ireland or Cyprus visa (or a residence permit in one of these countries) with which they entered at least once into some EU/USA/UK country, then Albania allows these citizens without an Albanian visa.

The excursion to Albania from Montenegro starts early, around 6am. A long wide promenade with a pebble beach, avenues, hotels and many Italian boutiques with inexpensive things, which especially attracts all tourists. But we are more interested in the Old Town of Bar, which is located at the foot of the coastal mountains. These places are thousands of years old. The Romans also called it Antibarium, which means opposite the Italian city of Bari. In the Middle Ages, a fortress wall was built, which at one time was a defense against pirate attacks.

This place is unique in its own way. Until the 19th century it was under the influence of the Ottoman Empire, but it soon ceased to exist, and taking advantage of the situation, the Montenegrins blew up almost the entire city with powder cellars. Almost all the houses had their roofs and walls blown off. The city became ruins and at the same time an open-air museum. There was no point in restoring it and local residents began to settle closer to the water. It is very interesting to walk through the ruins; there are many historical and significant sights left, such as: Aqueduct 18th century, Church of St. Nicholas 13th century, entrance gate 10th century, Hammam 18th century, Citadel 15-16th century, Bastion 16th century, Bishop's Chamber 14th century, clock tower 1753, churches and remains of foundations and walls from the 11th to 16th century.

We will have a walk through the old town of Bar, and then we will head to the Montenegrin-Albanian border to cross it.

20 minutes after the Albanian border, a stop awaits us in one of the most important and ancient cities of this land - Shkoder.

This is one of the oldest and most famous cities in Albania, founded in the 4th century BC, with a rich historical and cultural heritage, it is one of the main cities in the north of the country.

Although Albania is a Muslim country, there are enough Catholic and Orthodox monasteries and temples. Sightseeing tour around the city with a guide to see the sights: St. Stephen's Cathedral, Church of the Nativity, Sheikh Zamil Mosque. Also, some free time for a walk.

Above the city there is an old fortress (2400 years old), and a very sad legend about its foundation has been going on for more than 2 centuries passed on from generation to generation. Three brothers built the walls of the palace, but everything that was built in a day collapsed overnight. One day, passing by, a wise man said: “You will never build this palace unless you sacrifice a girl to it.” The brothers decided to sacrifice one of their wives. She was supposed to be the one who brought them lunch the next day. When the time came, the younger brother’s wife, Rozafa, brought food; it is her name that this fortress now bears. Rozafa agreed to sacrifice herself, but on one condition - because... she had a baby, she asked to wall herself up not completely, but so that she could still feed the child with one breast. And so they did. They say that milk is still dripping down the walls of the castle...
