Description and route of the excursion "Canyons of Montenegro"

The tour will start around 06:30 in the morning. The route passes through mountain passes, Skadar Lake (passing), or Cetinje and the capital Podgorica. If you want to go on several excursions - after looking at the lake, decide for yourself whether you want to visit the excursion to Lake Skadar to take a closer look at it or excursion to the Ostrog Monastery and Podgorica similar.

Literally on the way out of the capital Let's go to the first canyon of the Moraca River. We all know how earth and sky should be in relation to each other, but here everything is completely different. The steep cliffs of the vertical walls will make you feel the irresistible power of nature.

We will move along steep cliffs, and the shore opposite is also vertical and will be located only 30 - 50 meters from us. The sky somewhere above appears as a narrow strip, reflected in the emerald water of the seething stream.

Next to the road, surrounded by mountain streams, is one of the oldest sanctuaries - Moraca Monastery. The church itself is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary and dates back to the 12th century. To this day, frescoes with the faces of the Virgin Mary and Christ have been preserved; as well as 11 scenes illustrating the life of the prophet Elijah. A separate place is allocated for the icons of St. Semeon and Sveti Sava - the work of Kozma the Great himself.

As on the excursion to the Ostrog Monastery, here you can light candles for Health and Repose, write notes, purchase icons and broyanitsa - Serbian-Montenegrin amulets. The monks are very attentive to the improvement of their territory. You are not allowed to take photographs in the church itself, but you are allowed in the courtyard. The territory of the monastery is one of the most beautiful in Montenegro.

Not far from the road, surrounded by impenetrable forest, there is a unique place - Biogradsko Lake. By agreement with the guide, you can choose what you want to visit: Moraca Monastery and (for an additional fee) / or Biograd Lake.

Separate time is provided for visiting the lake and the national park.

ZThen our path runs to the beginning of Tara River Canyon and the remaining half of the journey will pass along the edge of the rocks, that is, at the very bottom of the gorge.

Many stops are planned on the terraces along the road, from which the most picturesque views of the Canyon, which is the second deepest in the world, will open.

Its depth is more than 1300 meters, and its length is 78 km. The river also hosts Rafting - the most exciting extreme adventure in Montenegro!

After photo breaks, we get to the deepest place of the gorge at Djurdzhevich Bridge - this is a great structure of the mid-20th century. The length of one of the spans is 108 meters above the abyss, and the height is more than 150 m.

Although the bridge is a car bridge, all tourists are still allowed to cross on foot from one bank to the other and even take photographs, since this is one of the most important attractions and tourist routes of all tourists.

If you wish, you can go down on a rope through the canyon - Zip-Line. When booking an excursion, it is possible to book a flight.

Here, near the Djurdzhevich Bridge, we will stop for lunch at a national restaurant with its delicacies. Set lunches are available at an additional cost upon request. Having eaten deliciously, we will move towards the city Zabljak.

This area is one of the five national parks of Montenegro, called Durmitor, listed under the protection of UNESCO as a world natural-geographical object. This place contains the highest peaks of the country - Mount Bobotov Kuk (2522 meters above sea level). And at the foot is the famous Black Lake with its clearest clear water.

You are allowed to swim if you wish. Don't forget to bring your swimwear. And those who don’t want to can go boating for an additional fee. There will be enough time to walk, take photographs and enjoy the colorful landscapes.

Very often people come here to walk with children, do yoga and just breathe fresh air - this is one of the “places of power” where you gain earthly energy for life!

After enjoying the beauty of the stormy colors, we will plot the route back. Along its path we will pass through another canyon along the Komarnica River.

Along the way, numerous photo stops and a lunch break are planned, which is provided at a national restaurant with famous local food: Yagnetina from pod Sachem, grilled trout, dried prosciutto, cheese, chorby (local soups), kajmak, Shopska salad, young red wine and much more to your taste and choice! We return back around 19:00.
