Two-day excursion to the north of Montenegro. New!

Sightseeing tour to the north of Montenegro - this is a new excursion for the 2020 season, which we offer to visit! The tour takes place in those unique places where it is impossible to travel by bus or regular car. You will get acquainted with the central highland part of Montenegro, with its natural beauty and national parks. One of the most interesting sightseeing tours of Montenegro with active recreation. This is a two-day trip that includes one day of rafting on Tara, an overnight stay at the base in and a trip through the Canyons on the second day. This tour is a unique opportunity to disconnect from the bustle of the city for two days and be in harmony with yourself and nature. 

This is a new product for 2020, so there are no reviews about this excursion yet.The tour will start quite early, since you will have to travel around almost the entire country - around 06:00 in the morning. The minibus starts its route from Tivat and Kotor to Budvy. Then, literally in half an hour, it will gather tourists from almost all the resorts on the coast: Becici, Rafailovici, Przno, Sveti Stefana, Petrovac, Buljarica and Sutomore. If you haven’t seen the resorts and the coast, this is a great opportunity to see how it works. Don't forget to take warm clothes with you: the temperature in the north and the coast can differ significantly. You will also need comfortable shoes, towels for drying, swimsuits, and clothes for sleeping, since we will be spending the nightand scarves to cover our shoulders and legs, since our program includes a visit to a monastery. 

Excursion description Two-day excursion to the north of Montenegro. 

First day : Rafting

The excursion will start early, around 6.30 am. The road to the north of the country passes through the coastal mountains Skadar Lake (or Cetinje) and Podgoricay (passing). 

Our bus will travel almost the entire country, also passing through one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro - Piva Lake.

Surprisingly emerald-colored water, which reflects the majestic mountains and blue sky. Its length is 48 km between the mountains in a flooded gorge.

The depth reaches 200 m and is the largest source and reservoir of drinking water in Europe. There are 2 types of fish: lake trout - up to 25 kg and chub - up to 3 kg.

There is a stop at the panoramic site and at the canyon of the Piva River.

The canyon, according to local residents, is the most beautiful and majestic in Montenegro. Its steep stone walls amaze with their power. There are a lot of wild animals in these parts - from bears to lynx.

When arriving at the rafting site, breakfast is provided: donuts with honey, jam, cheese, tea.

After having breakfast and changing clothes, tourists go up in jeeps/minibuses up the Tara River (20 km) to the starting point for rafting on boats one at a time one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. You can take your photo and video equipment with you on the boat. Approach the guys who organize rafting on site in advance before the rafting and ask them for waterproofremovablepouch. At stops and while swimming, you can take them out of the boat and film all the beauty on your gadgets.

After going down to the river, we get into the rafts and start the start. Each boat must have one Montenegrin instructor - a helmsman with extensive experience and permits.

During the rafting there is a stop for swimming in a waterfall. You will be enchanted by the virgin nature and beauty of these places.

Rafting takes place along 24 rapids of medium severity. During 2.5 hours of rafting, you will feel adrenaline rushes and experiences that you will remember for the rest of your life. The Tara River spends most of its journey in rapids and waterfalls. The nature of its flow is truly “mountainous” - with riffles and whirlpools, and only closer to the end of the rafting it becomes calm and leisurely.

In the summer, the river is a beautiful emerald color, its waters carry a refreshing coolness even in the most intense heat. The water temperature rarely exceeds 12 - 15 degrees.

If it is very hot, we do not advise you to wear wetsuits, as you can get steamy in them, and the splashes of water will only refresh you from the Montenegrin heat.

Upon completion of the rafting, we change clothes, take a shower and sit down at the tables right there in a local restaurant, surrounded by pristine nature. with a beautiful view of the confluence of the Tara and Piva rivers into the Drina river. National Montenegrin cuisine awaits you with the main dish Yagnetina izpod Sachem - young lamb baked in its own juice with baked potatoes under a lid.

Lunch is included in the price, drinks during lunch are paid additionally.

Rafting on the Tara has a II category of difficulty, so it is completely safe and suitable for people without special training. Tourists from 6 to 65 years old are allowed. Small children over 6 years old or anyone who is afraid are put in a boat in the middle.

After lunch we get ready and return back to the base, where our rafting started. Here we have pre-booked houses waiting for us, in which we will rest and spend the night. In the evening around 20:00 we will have dinner, which is included in the price of the excursion

2nd day: Grand Canyons. 

After a delicious breakfast, which will be around 7:00 in the morning, we pack up and head out to the mountains. We pwill travel to the Durmitor mountain range at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. Alpine meadows and a stone sea, as we call this area, will surround us around every turn.

Many even compare this territory to the surface of the Moon.

Next, along the highest mountain road in Montenegro we move towards the Sedlo pass. Many believe that this is one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro. Stunning landscapes will open up to us on both sides of the road. By the way, the vegetation on the way to the top is constantly changing, and it feels like we have passed through different countries with radically different nature. Here, at the top of the pass, we will be able to enjoy the beauty of pristine nature and take beautiful photographs against the backdrop of the Durmitor panorama

Afterwards we will move towards the city of Zabljak. This area is one of the five national parks of Montenegro, called Durmitor, listed under the protection of UNESCO as a world natural and geographical site. The highest peaks of the country are also located here - Mount Bobotov Kuk (2522 meters above sea level). And at the foot is the famous Black Lake with its clear, clear water. Go to the lake for 10 minutes, we advise you not to waste time. About 1 hour of free time is allocated to the Black Lake. Of course, you want to admire this beautiful place for hours, but unfortunatelywe cannot spend more time on it, since our excursion is quite long and we need to have time to cover all the sights according to our program.

Tourists can swim in this reservoir - and many do just that, since the water in it is incredibly clear and clean.

For a walk on the lake, you can rent a boat for a fee. Local residents claim that Black Lake is a place of strength and energy.

Very often people come here to walk with their children, do yoga and just breathe fresh air! 

Then our path will passto the Tara River Canyon, which is the second largest in the world. The depth is more than 1300 meters, and the length is 78 km.  Here we will have fantastic views of the deepest part of the Tara Canyon, which we will look at from Mount Churevac. The beauty that will open before our eyes is difficult to describe in words; the local nature will fascinate you for a long time with its colorful landscapes. 

The next stage of the journey is Djurdjevic Bridge. It was created around 1940, is over 170 meters high, and consists of five arches. One of its spans, the largest, reaches 116 meters in length. 

This grandiose structure is also considered one of the sights of Montenegro. The bridge is intended for vehicular traffic, but tourists are allowed to stop here and even cross it on foot.

If desired, you can rappel through the canyon - Zip-Line. When booking an excursion, you have the opportunity to choose which flight you want. Advice - first go to the zipline, thento the bridge to take photos, and then for souvenirs. At technical stops, Montenegrins sell various homemade specialties (honey, wine, rakia...). It happens that they sell and take out the wrong product that you initially tasted and that you liked, so ask for the same one from the display case.

After visiting the bridge, a stop for lunch is planned. You can sit in a cozy restaurant with national flavor and Balkan cuisine. Here you can try an excellent lunch, which includes salad, soup and main course - usually either fish or meat. You will have to pay 10 euros for a treat, but drinks are not included. 

After enjoying the beauty of the vibrant colors, our route follows to the south of Montenegro. We will move in the very gorge of the Tara River, where the rocks of the Canyon will constantly hang over you. Many stops are planned on the terraces along the road, from which the most picturesque views will open.

Next to the road, surrounded by mountain streams, is one of the oldest sanctuaries - the Moraca Monastery. The church itself is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary and dates back to the 12th century. To this day, frescoes with the faces of the Virgin Mary and Christ have been preserved; as well as 11 scenes illustrating the life of the prophet Elijah. A separate place is allocated for the icons of St. Semeon and Sveti Sava - the work of Kozma the Great himself. Here you can light candles for Health and Repose, write notes, buy icons and brojanitsa - Serbian-Montenegrin amulets.

Literally at the entrance to the capital we will stop at the last canyon - the Moraca River. We all know how earth and sky should be in relation to each other, but here everything is completely different. The steep cliffs of the vertical walls will make you feel the irresistible power of nature. We will move along steep cliffs, and the shore opposite is also vertical and will be located only 30 - 50 meters from us. The sky somewhere above looks like a narrow strip, reflected in the emerald water of the seething stream.

Through the main city of the country - Podgorica, we will head back to the coast.

We return back to Budva around 20:00.

Excursion details

Numerous photo stops are planned along the entire route. The price of the excursion includes overnight stay in two or four-bed houses at the rafting base on the first day, breakfast, lunch and dinner on the first day; breakfast on the second day, entrances to national parks. Lunch on the second day is not included in the ticket price and is paid additionally, the cost is 10 euros. 

We return to the coast around 20:00. The excursion takes place only with a Russian-speaking, experienced, licensed guideom! 

Excursions in Montenegro start from the bus stops indicated when booking. Due to the dense, chaotic development on the coast and mountainous terrain, buses cannot travel to every hotel or villa, so tourists go to certain places. When booking, choose the nearest stop from your place of residence.

We advise tourists to refrain from excursions with small children, since the excursion is two-day and long, with pressure changes, with a change of 3 climate zones and temperature conditions.

Time of arrival at the attraction, duration of stops and return back are approximate. This may be earlier than indicated on the website, or 3-4 hours late. Be sure to read the “Tourist Memo”, which will be sent to you by e-mail along with the voucher.

At technical stops, Montenegrins sell various homemade specialties (honey, wine, rakia...) - our advice: buy what you tried and liked, as it happens that they sell/get the wrong product that you liked during tasting.
